Anna Leckey presented the activity of the Neighbourhood Planning Committee to date
A £2000 grant was received from Groundworks for a consultation period which concludes June 2025.  The process started June 2024 after a successful history evening and a residents survey the results of which  suggesting what the ‘visio’n for the NP should be: ‘ to improve and enhance  the environments of Springthorpe and Sturgate’.

The Community wanted the Church, Village Green and Village Hall (largely contiguous with the Conservation Area described by WLDC) to remain as they are. The Village Hall is a great asset but consideration must be given to the idea that Thonock and Somerby Estates may not want to rent it out in future years.   Various ways could be considered to increase use of the Church to help with the upkeep while its physical condition is acceptable.

Further meetings and surveys went on to review:

Housing Policy. There is a lack of affordable housing and retirementhousing in the village so any future development where this could be addressed would be welcomed.
Employment Policy. We welcome new business but because of the extra traffic they may entail new businesses would have to ensure off road parking for staff and visitors.
Heritage Policy.  Any new housing to maintain the traditional look of the village.
Open Space Policy.  Requirements for this currently under investigation.

Engagement has been low in response to surveys sent out regarding the policies despite excellent engagement at the History Evening and subsequent survey .

Date 14th July 2025 Open Church Evening to present the draft policy and start the consultation period following which a Final version will be ready by 1st September 2025.  To be presented at another Church Evening in September then forwarded to the West Lindsey District Council for voting.

Dr Gillian  Procter gave thanks to all the people who had helped over her period in office.  Shirley Winter gave thanks on behalf of the village. John Oaks thanked the people who sat on the Neighbourhood Planning Committee. The Meeting closed at 19:30
