Vacancy: Treasurer
Job Description
The financial manager of Springthorpe Parish Meeting, responsible for:
- Arranging finance for the purchasing and spending needs of the Parish Meeting
- Risk management of the financial activities of the Parish Meeting
- Forecasting cashflow for the Parish Meeting
- Compliance with the Policies of the Parish Meeting or where these do not exist such Policies as deemed appropriate by WLDC
Specifically:
- To attend Parish Meetings
- To prepare financial records, plans, policies and other reports to ensure SPM can operate for the benefit of its members
- To prepare and keep contemporaneous and up to date financial records (currently manually, preferably electronically) that may be inspected by the Members on request at any time
- To present an up to date income and expenditure account to every Parish Meeting
- Management of the Meeting’s bank account and signatories
- To reconcile bank statements with cash records
- Compliance with Precept structures and documentation as required by WLDC including public display of AGAR forms and compliance with any requested audit
- Presentation of accurate annual financial report for the ASM including an income and expenditure account for the year, specific income and expenditure accounts for budgets identified within the whole and an outline budget forecast for the financial year ahead
- Safe-keeping of all electronic and paper records relevant to the described activities
- Compliance with SPM Policies and where these don’t exist WLDC Policies relevant to the behaviours of councillors and the operation of systems
- Maintainence of good relations with lenders and Fund Managers who support the Parish Meeting
Person Requirements:
Member of SPM
Prepared to provide timely voluntary financial activity according to the needs of the Parish Meeting
Familiarity with good accounting practice
Training
in the specifics of Local Authority accounting and Audit processes is available through mentoring provided by Members with experience of this position and formally through LALC
There is a shared SPM laptop to run any Meeting-approved accounting software and to help generate reports/printing
Estimated Hours: 2 hrs pcm (varies considerably from month to month)
Vacancy: Website Administrator
Job Description
The Information Technology Manager for Springthorpe Parish Meeting responsible for:
The accuracy of the information available on the Parish Website and keeping this up-to date
Specifically
- By attendance at Parish Meetings
- By timely general housekeeping of the Parish Website as suggested by the LALC Website Administrator
- Advising members on opportunities to widen and or improve the digital footprint of the Meeting
- Development of the SPM ‘digital footprint’ in line with the wishes of the Members
- To assist the other officials of the meeting with the IT demands of their own posts
- To ensure familiarity with the JADU operating system of the website and reduce unnecessary website development costs
Person Requirements
- Member of SPM
- Prepared to provide timely voluntary activity for the benefit of the local community
- Familiarity with the JADU operating system is ideal but training can be provided through LALC
- There is a shared laptop for use online and the construction of reports /communications and printing
